Modeler, Data

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Advanced Modeling & Analytics, the Data Modeler is responsible for the design, development and deployment of complex reporting capabilities utilizing the Microsoft Azure software platform. The role is part of our Enterprise Data Platform team that manages the ingestion, storage, modeling, and consumption of data for Acosta and our clients.

Essential Functions:

• Development of new Azure Analysis Services (AAS) Tabular models, as well as enhancements to existing AAS models.
• In addition to model development, there will also be occasions where new Power BI reports, as well as enhancements to existing Power BI reports will require development.
• Work closely with Project Managers / Scrum Masters, BI Architects, BI QA Analysts and Data Engineering Developers in both Agile and Waterfall work settings to deliver solutions against a deadline that meet the requirements of the business and product stakeholders.
• Stay current with Microsoft and other BI technologies by researching, POC'ing and sharing solutions within the Data Platform team that will help drive efficiency and innovation for our business and product stakeholders.
• Continually focus on self-development by allocating time to continually develop your BI, modeling, and data skills.
• Familiarize yourself with Acosta's services (namely Retail, Headquarter Selling) - along with the data solutions (NARS, POS, CPG Syndicated) that support those services.
• Think critically about the data model solutions you're delivering. You need to understand it and expand its implications beyond the numbers alone. As a critical thinker, you can think analytically about modeling data and BI, identifying patterns and extracting actionable insights and information from the data made available to you.

Education Requirements:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
• Related word experience can be substituted for some of the educational requirements
• Microsoft Certification: Data Analyst Associate preferred
• MCSA: BI Reporting preferred

Work Experience Requirements:

• 1-2 years of experience in Microsoft SSAS, AAS and data warehouse design for Business Intelligence
• 2+ years of experience with data analytics and various report development software
• 2+ years of experience in Power BI including M Query and DAX development
• 3 – 5 years of related work experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:

• Proficient in Power BI, inclusive of an advanced understanding of DAX (calculate/evaluate/filter expressions, parameters, variables, iterators, advanced time intelligence and calculated groups).
• Proficient in Power BI, inclusive of a solid understanding of DAX (including but not limited to FILTER, ALL, RELATED, CALCULATE, time intelligence functions)
• A solid understanding of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) foundations and best practices as it relates to reporting.
• Good problem solving and debugging skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
