    The Payroll Manager operates as the subject matter expert and escalation point for all payroll related functions in a shared services environment.




    • Manage full cycle in-house US payroll processing of multi-entity, multi state/territory, bi-weekly payrolls for both exempt and non-exempt employees, as well as UK and Germany outsourced payrolls.
    • Develop and maintain complete documentation of ongoing payroll system functionalities and procedures.
    • Establish practices, procedures and controls necessary to ensure the efficient operation of payroll processing and to ensure accurate and on time delivery.
    • Develop and implement best practices, key performance indicators and metrics for payroll-related functions.
    • Ensure appropriate security measures and internal controls are established and enforced to safeguard associate data and company information.
    • Oversight of audit of associate master file information (salary, history, federal & state tax information, address changes, department changes, deductions and direct deposits) and account reconciliation for both bank and payroll G/L accounts.
    • Maintain effective internal controls and proactively work to identify and implement efficiency improvements.
    • Responsible for the selection, development, performance management and retention of the payroll organization, with focus on building a world-class team.
    • Drive strong performance management in the team through clear expectations, priority setting, frequent touch-points and feedback
    • Assign, direct, schedule, and evaluate the work of associates involved with processing payroll, garnishments, and time and attendance.
    • Engage with internal and external business partners to resolve payroll-related issues.
    • Lead and participate in projects with internal and external business partners to support business initiatives and promote continuous process improvement.
    • Remain knowledgeable of current and changing laws and regulations affecting overall US payroll administration, in addition to state and local regulations.
    • Maintain strictest confidentiality of any payroll, private employee information and any proprietary information and ensure payroll information is secure.
    • Coordinates deadlines and processes with other departments so that the payroll and time and attendance process can respond to varying cyclical deadlines; solves problems before, during, and after payroll cycles; updates, distributes and maintains department manuals as needed.
    • Additional duties and special projects as requested.


    • Expertise leading teams to achieve common goals, including managing the work of direct and indirect reports.
    • Ability to champion and adapt to change.
    • Ability to empower and challenge team members of all skill levels to reach their full potential.
    • Thorough knowledge of US Payroll laws, regulations and requirements. Basic knowledge of UK and Germany payroll laws and regulations is a strong plus, but not required.
    • Expert knowledge and understanding of SAP Payroll.
    • Expert knowledge of Kronos timekeeping, accruals and absence tracking.
    • Advanced skill in MS Excel.
    • Minimum of seven (7) years progressive payroll experience to include multiple legal entities and all states and territories.
    • Minimum of three (3) years direct supervisory experience with a team of 10+.
    • Prior responsibility for 20,000+ employees preferred.
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience with SAP Payroll or ADP GlobalView
    • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, human resources or related field preferred.
    • Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
