  • Overview

    Responsible for supporting workloads running on the environment and associated technologies. This position will be responsible for monitoring the batch jobs, resolving incidents, optimizing workloads, tuning jobs, and making job enhancements.

    Responsibilities

    • Primarily responsible for implementing and supporting ETL processes that populate SQL Server 2012 and 2008 Enterprise Data Warehouse implementations supporting multiple products.
    • Participate in the requirements gathering process and assist with designing the business process dimensional models.
    • Evaluate tools and technologies in the context of the future state architecture, and evolving business requirements.
    • Develop, design, tune, and maintain SQL server integration service (SSIS) packages to perform the ETL process.
    • Design and develop SQL Server stored procedures, functions, views and triggers to be used during the ETL process.
    • Perform data profiling and source to target mappings (while capturing ETL and business metadata) for populating dimensional models.
    • Write scripts for automated testing of data in the target facts and dimensions.
    • Capture audit information during all phases of the ETL process.
    • Write and maintain documentation of the ETL processes.
    • Conduct appropriate functional and performance testing to identify bottlenecks and data quality issues.
    • Collaborate with business users, other data services team members, and other developers throughout the organization to help everyone understand issues that affect the data warehouse.
    • Review of project artifacts during the transition phase and ensure operational needs are met.
    • Review solution and technical designs.
    • Propose best practices/standards.
    • Benchmark the performance in line with the non-functional requirements.
    • Other duties assigned.

    Qualifications

    1. Five years SQL Server experience.
    2. Five years of SSIS experience.
    3. Three to five years of experience with data warehousing and business intelligence projects.
    4. Previous experience in developing and deploying operational procedures, tuning guides and best practices documentation.
    5. SDLC knowledge in both waterfall and agile methodologies.
    6. Dimensional modeling experience preferably with a modeling tool such as Idera, Toad Data Modeler, ERwin, Embarcadero etc.
    7. Hands-on experience with source code management system (SVN, Git,TFS) and continuous integration tools (Jenkins).
    8. Experience on handling data processing, delivering distributed and highly scalable application.
    9. Experience with Azure Data Warehouse and Azure Analysis Services (preferred).
    10. Experience with Big Data platforms (Claudera/Hortonworks).
    11. Experience in scripting languages & automation such as bash, PERL, and Python.
    12. Experience in data warehousing, analytics, and business intelligence/visualization/presentation.
    13. Experience on Linux , AIX, and z/OS.
    14. Working knowledge of one or more Microsoft BI components like DQS, MDS, SSRS or SSAS is a plus
    15. Attention to detail to review project deliverables for completeness, quality, and compliance with established project standards.
    16. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, combined with strong interpersonal skills.
    17. Ability to develop solutions with a re-useable/modular framework (ETL processes).
    18. Strong analytical skills and thought processes combined with the ability to be flexible and work in a problem-solving environment.
    19. Follow change management process to resolve application defects or to implement development enhancements.
    20. Must possess the ability to design and develop detailed operational and technical process documentation.
    21. Bachelor's of Arts or Science Degree Preferred
