The Sales support representative (SSR) is an entry level position which is focused on providing support to the Corporate Business Managers.
The SSR must have at least two years of work experience and a college degree is a plus. In addition, the SSR must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, have good follow through, possess critical thinking aptitude, be well organized, successfully work on several projects at the same time, and have demonstrated initiative.
SSRs will work closely with Corporate Business Managers (CBMs), The Regional Business Managers (RBMs) and Costco personnel on a regular basis. This position is a go-to position for the Business Manager staff so the job responsibilities may change depending on specific circumstances as the business continues to evolve. Experience in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are required.


Basic Sales Support/Administrative Support
a. Create/maintain buy docs
b. Spreadsheets (inventory tracking, sales analysis, forecasting, etc.)
c. Business Review and Meeting Preparation
d. Proactively assist buying staff in manager’s absence
e. Comp shops and retail category surveys
f. Sample management (send & receive)
g. Participate in sales meetings/presentations
h. Prepare and execute product cuttings
i. Projects and duties as assigned
j. Kirkland Signature item approval process help
k. Vendor Commitment Forms process help
l. Initiate and manage special projects as they occur
m. Support our programs and maximize sales by understanding Costco objectives, resolving any daily issues that arise, and building relationships
n. Possess a comprehensive knowledge of the Customer’s operation and key competitors
o. Protect customer and vendor’s confidential and proprietary information
p. Quality issues management


2. Organize/Maintain Computer and Paper File Systems
a. Maintain complete files of orders
b. Manage filing system for communication with vendors, buyers, orders, ADW personnel, etc.
c. Maintain updated files for all active item spec sheets/pricing/comm..forms

     i. All files/buy docs/pricing must be readily accessible
d. Maintain vendor contact information in ADW database system
e. Maintain a back-up process sheet for those times when you are out of the office
f. Maintain a file of product quality issues


3. Order Processing
a. Verification of orders for accuracy
   i. Including: pricing, terms, lead times, item set up, minimum orders, and double check system to verify all orders received.
b. Verification of receipt of orders by vendor
c. Enter orders into ADW PO database with accuracy
d. Customer Service contact for Costco & Principals
  i. Urgent response to all issues
  ii. Precise record keeping of all activities/issues


4. Deductions
a. Minimize/prevent deductions with attention to order accuracy and confirmation
b. Resolve deductions
c. Review findings with Business Manager

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Associates Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of two (2) years previous sales support, customer service, or office administrative experience required.
  • A minimum of one (1) year previous food broker experience preferred.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, organizational and administrative skills, and be able to effectively communicate with others.
  • Must be able to operate a calculator, computer, printer, fax machine, telephone, copier.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Proficiency in data/order entry and software and Becton system required.
  • Must have internet access and an email address available.
