Ensures Acosta payroll taxes are compliant with all applicable laws and regulations. Completes quarterly and annual adjustments, and establishes and maintains controls including relationships with auditor, federal, state and local agencies. Responsible for quarterly and annual reconciliations, W-2’s, W-2C’s and other year-end requirements. Strong ability to be proactive and work independently required.


  • Ensures Acosta’s payroll taxes are compliant with federal, state and local regulations.
  • Researches laws and regulations regarding federal, state and local taxes, taxable events and payroll withholding procedures in a multi-state environment.
  • Audits associate payroll tax records for accuracy and makes updates accordingly
  • Generates and distributes W-2’s, W-2C’s annually, and balances year end processing.
  • Maintains outstanding tax notice case logs with ADP and Ceridian and resolves outstanding issues
  • Responsible for amendment requests and processing with ADP and/or Ceridian
  • Reconciles filing and deposit records with taxing authorities.
  • Balances payroll records with tax filing on a per pay period basis
  • Develops necessary controls including relationships with internal and external auditors and federal, state and local agencies.
  • Manages quarterly and annual adjustments with Payroll Tax Supervisor.
  • Coordinates with unemployment compensation service provider and state unemployment agencies on all tax related issues, amendments, etc.
  • Ensures associate’s state, and local taxes are set up appropriately in ADP Enterprise and Ceridian software, and in compliance with applicable state and local laws.
  • Ensures ADP, Ceridian, and 3rd party unemployment provider SUI rates are aligned and current.
  • Remains current with federal, state, and local tax laws as they apply, to include multi-jurisdictional processing, compensation, and Section 125 benefits.
  • Other duties as assigned by Payroll Tax Supervisor.


  • 3 to 5 years of specifically, Payroll Tax experience in a multi-state and local jurisdictional environment. This should include in-house filing and payment of returns at the federal, state and local level.
  • Proficiency with ADP Enterprise and Ceridian required.
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Excel spreadsheets to include pivot tables and VLookup.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of the complexities of state and local taxation, to include reciprocal agreements.
